My Morning Routine

A Full Breakdown of My Morning Routine…

One thing I get asked the most on my Instagram is about my morning routine. I’m always documenting it in my stories and I do understand the fascination with it. I’m a morning person, I have to be up and at it. Otherwise, I feel like I’ve wasted my day away. I’ve spoken about it in a previous post, but one of my favourite quotes is ‘the secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine’. I live by this quote, so much so, it’s saved as a widget on my phone.

My morning routine really sets me up for the day. It just makes such a difference, knowing that I’ve ticked off and done everything I need to get myself in the right headspace to take on the rest of the day. So for the few people who asked and also because I’m an oversharer, here is my morning routine broken down for you…

5:45 AM: WAKE UP & GET UP.

Yes, you read that correctly. I wake up at 5:45 am Monday- Friday. 6/ 7 am on the weekends. I like an early start, however, to fit everything I want to do, I have to give myself 15 minutes to wake up. So during this time, I get up straight away (no snoozing), head to our bathroom and get myself changed into my workout gear.

6:00 AM: WATER BOTTLE & WORK OUT.

Once I’m dressed, it’s downstairs and time to fill up my water bottle. I have a keg water bottle that I use to make sure I drink my gallon of water. I usually pour into other glasses, but carry this around to make sure I’m drinking the required amount of water that I want to get in. For my workout, I’ll pour myself a glass so I’ve got something to sip on while I’m working out.

My workout has slightly changed these days. I use to do a lot of Sweat workout outs, but recently, I’ve changed it to Chloe Ting, which I’m sure everyone has heard of. Her workouts are free and great. Hard work, but absolutely worth it. I have a lot of fun doing them and I’m seeing visible results. The workouts are between 30- 45 minutes and are able to be fit in first thing in the morning.

6:45 AM: CLEAN UP & HEADING UPSTAIRS.

After my workout, I clean up my gear, finish off my water and get everything I need to take upstairs with me. This includes my laptop, ice roller, topping up my glass of water and getting my green smoothie out of the freezer (more on this later). Whilst I’m in the kitchen, I will make my lemon water. Essentially, this is just hot water with lemon, squeezed into a mug. The health benefits of it are 100% worth drink every single morning.

7:00 AM: SHOWER & SKINCARE.

From there, once I’m upstairs it’s time to get ready and have a shower. I wash my hair on an every-other-day basis. Once I’m done in the shower, it’s time to do my morning skincare. This is a process, but I absolutely love it. It’s very much ten/ fifteen minutes to myself, taking care of my skin and getting my head in the right space. Once I’m done with my skincare routine, it’s time to grab my multi-vitamins and head to our primary bedroom to get ready.

7:20 AM: SOCIAL MEDIA.

So notice other than my alarm the odd stories I’ll do in the morning, I don’t look at my phone. I try to stay off my phone for as long as possible, Whilst I’d like to go longer (my job is pretty much social media, so the less time the better), I do run this blog, so I like to make sure I get my interactions and posting in. Usually, I do this whilst I’m allowing my eye cream to soak in. I know many people talk about the half an hour commenting before and after in order to ‘break the algorithm’. However, it’s not authentic to me and quite frankly, I do not have the time for it. So I give myself ten minutes to post and respond to comments and like some gorgeous photos that appear in my home feed.

7:30 AM: GET READY.

Now it’s time to get ready. I usually take my time with this, ice rolling, taking my vitamins, drying and styling my hair. Ironically, as much time I spend on my skincare, I only give myself ten minutes to do my makeup. It’s not my strength and I don’t enjoy it, so I only wear the bare minimum. I put so much time into my skincare, I’ve got to let them do the heavy lifting.

Once I’m done, it’s time to get dressed (usually picked out the night before), grabbing my bag and time to head downstairs for the final bit.

8:00 AM: GETTING MY STUFF TOGETHER.

Now is the final countdown, grabbing my lunch, water bottle and my other liquids. Recently, it’s been my morning green smoothie and collagen coffee. These drinks I’ve actually spoken more about in my most recent post. I do as much prep as I can do the evening before, even getting my bottles out on the side ready. Obsessive yes, but it works for me.

8:20 AM: OUT OF THE DOOR.

By this time, I’m out of the door and driving to work. I’m sipping on a smoothie and listening to a podcast, I’m obsessed with them. My subjects do vary, perhaps another blog post to summarise which ones I’m into right now. Commuting to work takes about 20- 40 minutes depending on traffic, which I do not mind. I like a long commute to relax, turn off my brain, ready to crush it at work.
