My Mature Morning Skincare Routine
Everything I use first thing in the morning…
I’m a huge skincare nerd. Makeup is great, but I’m all about looking after and putting the work into your skin. To me, it’s like a house. There’s no point in decorating it if the foundations aren’t great. I’m happy to say that at the age of 30, I don’t look it and I put it all down to my skincare routine. In fact, at my new job, people assumed I was in my mid-twenties and I was 100% happy with this.
It’s taken a while to perfect my routine and it’s changed. Since turning 30, I would say I’ve levelled up my products. In fact, I did a similar post this time last year and it’s completely different. If you’re needing to switch up your morning skincare routine or fancy following my routine (Instagram Reels on each step can be found here), here’s exactly what I’m using right now…
SCRUB AND CLEANSER.
First things first are to scrub and cleanse my skin as soon as I get out of the shower. Scrub wise, I only do it Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s, alternating between this and using my AHA Solution I use in the evenings. I love this coffee facial scrub, it’s an oldie but a goodie. It smells amazing and does the job.
Next is to cleanse and I have fallen in love with this amino gel cleanser by Summer Fridays. Truthfully, I’m unsure why I picked this up as it’s a gel cleanser and that usually dries me out. However, this is the complete opposite. It’s super hydrating, soft on the skin and just gorgeous! Would 100% recommend it, it does the job, smells amazing and is just great.
TONER, ICE ROLLER AND SERUM.
This is the part in my morning skincare routine where we get a little fancy. I recently swapped to this rose spray toner as I’m trying to move away from using cotton pads to apply it. It’s a great little toner, smells amazing and does the job of calming my skin.
Now for ice rolling. Your eyes may have started to roll to the back of your head at this sentence but I swear by it. This little ice roller does the job and was super affordable. It stays cold for so long, I keep it in my freezer it’s the wake-up call my skin needs first thing in the morning. I roll up and outwards, helping to drain the puffiness out of my skin, sculpting and just looking more refreshed. Once you do one side you see the difference!
Finally, the serum. Before this product I was using two serums to make my skin look good, hyaluronic acid and a vitamin C serum. Now, I have this serum from Summer Fridays that does both jobs. It smells like a holiday in a bottle and instantly makes my skin look more awake, hydrated and glowy. It’s 100% worth the investment and I’m not going back from this for a while.
ALL THE MOISTURISERS AND CREAMS.
And now we’re at the creams. I use three in total and you cannot make me choose between them which is my favourite. They are all from the same brand and 100% worth buying. Firstly, we have my eye cream, which includes avocado oil and gives my eye a lift. Next, it’s my moisturiser, which I have been using since I was 21 and I will never go back. It’s the only one that works for my skin. Finally, we have my SPF, which there is some included in my moisturiser but I like to add an additional layer. This SPF is 50+++, which I will never go lower than that on my face. Goes on nicely and does the job of protecting my skin. If I really had to choose between them, it would be my SPF as that does the most protection to my skin.
