Those Must-Have Items for Your Home…

The kitchen is one of those rooms that I spend a lot of time in. And there is some essential kitchen gadgets that I live by and are must-haves when I’m prepping things. I’m a believer that you don’t need every piece of technology cluttering your sides. However, there are some that I would highly recommend investing. These make such a difference to my every day and I think you’re going to love them too…

SMEG KETTLE & TOASTER.

I truly love my Smeg Kettle and Smeg Toaster. Yes, they are a spenny item and I could have gone with more affordable ones. But these guys are worth every penny. Not only do they look great, but they also perform well. I’ve had ours for almost three years now. This would be the time I would be experiencing issues with my toaster and kettle. But not these, they are still going strong.

Going back to their looks, they help towards blending that function with design in the room. The kitchen is a difficult room to get the right balance, but these appliances help with this.

MARBLE TRAY.

A marble tray is ideal for cultivating every day used items. I have one near where we prep food with our salt, pepper and oils sitting on it. It’s a great way of organising without sacrificing style. The one I use is an old one which has a wooden section for contrast. It fits perfectly with our interior style whilst also practical.

If a marble tray doesn’t quite fit with your interior style going for a wooden or rattan one would be perfect for organising these practical items. Another option would be a slate board, but be wary of the potential damage that it could have on your countertops.

NESPRESSO COFFEE MACHINE & MILK FROTHER.

Ah, my coffee machine. Since working from home, I’ve been using this bad boy more and more. This Nespresso pod machine is perfect for whipping up a quick coffee in the morning or before a meeting. Contrary to popular belief, the Nespresso pods are recyclable and the coffee grounds are used within compost to help the growth of new beans. Ideally, I’d love a bean to cup machine, but for now, this one is doing me just fine.

Along with the Nespresso machine, my milk frother is a fellow work colleague. I love a latte, and this is great for whipping up the milk ready to go straight into the cup. It’s also great at frothing the milk but keeping it cool, perfect for iced-lattes. Great all year round and helps keep me caffeinated during the working day.

LE CREUSET ROASTING TRAY.

Something I never thought would be my ride or die. However, once I was gifted one for my birthday, I’ve never looked back. This Le Creuset roasting tray is used pretty much every single day. It’s a great size for cooking everything in one pan, easy to clean and simply looks fabulous. Even my cheffy husband loves it and wants to invest in more of the range. I would say if you have a wedding or someone who loves cooking birthday coming up, this would be the ideal birthday present for them.

CLEAR STORAGE BINS.

Yes, I fell down the rabbit hole of organisation thanks to The Home Edit. I knew that I wanted to invest in their clear storage bins, so when we did our kitchen makeover, I, of course, purchased pretty much the entire range. Mostly, I use them in our fridge, such as this large clear box and this veggie divider. We also use their soda can organiser, which has made my fridge a delightful experience when I open it.

Along with these pieces, I also love their lazy susan. This helps keep my pantry cupboard neat and organiser. This has made cooking in the evenings a breeze, it’s really taken a lot of the stress out of this task. Sounds silly, but I truly believe it’s the small things that make such a difference to our way of living. For me, this is one of them.
