Editors Notes: September

Welcome to The ‘Ber Months…
You know how Lorelei can smell snow in Gilmore Girls? Well, I can sense the turning of the leaves. The crispiness in the air. It’s September, my time to shine. My Editor’s Notes September comes after a hiatus. I took the summer off. For the first time in a long time, I stopped working. I’ve spoken in my previous Editor’s Notes my tough time that I had and something had to give. So I stopped. Blogging. YouTube. And the podcast. Everything stopped and I took time for myself.
I spoke to my therapist about how I’ve never known the world relax. It wasn’t a thing when I was growing up. If you weren’t doing something, you were being lazy. Therefore, I never stopped. From the age of 12 I had a part time job. I had three at once during university to support myself. Right now, I’m a Content Creator, a Comms Expert, a Business Owner. The list goes on. I haven’t had time off in years. So I embraced it this summer. It was hard at first, but worth it. I understand now the balance of work/life. Yes, there’s so much I want to achieve, but it doesn’t always have to happen at once.
Time for a Fresh Start.
This is why I love September. I LOVE the back-to-school feeling. Yes, New Year’s is also my favourite time of the year for the fresh start in life. But there’s something about September. Maybe it’s because I was a nerd and loved academics. Whatever it is, September is a fresh start for me, more than ever.
Which is why I chose to restart everything in this month. There is so much I want to say in my Editor’s Notes September, but I have to hold onto it for a little bit longer. I promise it’s worth it. But it’s my little secret for now. What I can say is that blogging is back. I love my OG. This is where I started everything. Am I hanging onto the written word with claws for dear life? Yes. Am I aware not many people read blogs anymore? Also yes. But this is where it started for me and I’m not giving it up any time soon. So a post as week it is. Recommendations, advice, how to’s. Everything you could need, from your Nancy-Meyers-coded big sister.
You know what else is back? YouTube. I’ve missed creating video content. Of course, I’m doing all the TikTok’s. But long form is where I feel comfortable. You’ve guys have been begging for longer videos, you’ve been heard. A video once a week, every Thursday is coming your way.
September’s Quote
“And all at once, summer collapsed into all…”
The Agenda for September.
So, there’s a secret project I’ve been working on. The said secret project as I mentioned above. As I’m typing this, we are so close to it being completed. And hopefully in a few weeks I will be spilling all the tea. The continuation of this project is what is going to be taking up the most of my September. I’m so excited for it.
September is when I’m starting back up with content. I’ve always spoken about the desire to take this show on the road and work for myself creating content. Well, this month I want to take it more seriously. Now, you may be thinking “Elle, you just spoke about taking a break and slowing down?!” Relax, I’m still taking it easy. But I have plans that are going to become very clear shortly that is going to give me the opportunity to take ownership of my own path and boy am I going to run with it.
Now let’s talk about Fall activities. Because yes, Autumn began at 00:01 on the first of the month. I’m going apple picking and baking all the apple goods. I’ll be re-binging the new series of With Love, Meghan and recreating everything from the series. Gilmore Girls is getting started from the beginning again. As soon as the temperature drop, my knitwear is coming out. I’m an Autumnal girlie through and through.
The Mood Board.
As a Soft Autumn, these are the tones for my wardrobe. It’s all about mixing textures and embracing the beginning of Autumn. Right now, the weather is perfect, knitwear in the sunshine with a light breeze. Hot coffees are back on the menu, sorry iced lattes. Cinnamon rolls, apples and embracing the changes of this time of year. It’s so fleeting, in a blink, Winter is here. So I’m fully absorbing all I can of this season.
Love it! Discovered you recently and loving all of your content (even going back through your old YT vids and have listened to almost all of your podcasts in 2 weeks on walks and when feeding my newborn 🤭🤣). Keep it coming! Jacquie from Australia
OMG, this is so sweet of you, thank you so much ☺️
And congratulations on your newborn! x
