So Excited to Finally Reveal This Room to You…

It’s here! I’m so excited to finally show off our laundry room makeover. This labour of love is finally completed and I’m so happy with the results.

Taking just under three months complete, this room has been an absolute game changer for our rental home. Not only has it given me more storage, but it’s motivated me to go brave and bold with the rest of our home. This burgundy is totally out of our comfort zone, but compliments the room so much.

As you would have seen on my rental reno series on YouTube, we had a long way to go to make the space functional. For one thing, it was just becoming a dumping ground, so I needed to make sure that I added storage to this small space. As it connected to several spaces, I had to ensure that the path was cleared so that I could continue with the rest of the rooms. So, I decided to crack on with this space, giving it all my focus. And look how it turned out.

There were a few things that I wanted/ needed to hit to ensure the room was a success. The first was covering the boiler, which needed to be pretty but functional (it had to allow ventilation). This cane webbing works perfectly, it adds warmth to the space whilst also being practical. To frame it and bring in that heritage feel, I decided to paint the framework a burgundy/ plum colour. This was the best choice I could have made, it fits perfectly in this space.

The next thing to tackle was storage. This I achieve with adding a counter above the washing machine. To cover the side, I built a shoe cubby that fits the space perfectly. Finally, I added in a small peg board with shelf that allows me to have easy grab access to things. Mainly the bits for the hoover and Dash’s little basket of everything.

Finally, I needed hanging availability for drying clothes. I just needed something that I could put wet clothes on, close the door and forget about them. For me, the success in this resulted in me DIY-ing my own ceiling clothes dryer. This is one of my favourite DIYs to date and is a 100% a life saver when it comes to laundry day.

Along with the space just feeling so much better, this room has actually been featured on one of my favourite websites, Apartment Therapy. This has been a goal of mine since I got into interiors and finally, a room of my home has been featured.
