Introducing Miles & Co | Opening Our Own Coffee Van

The Start of an Exciting New Chapter…

I can’t believe I’m writing this finally, much less this dream actually coming true. And I’ve had to sit on this secret for a while, an embargo by my other half until now. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Miles & Co, the coffee van that we’re opening up.

Towards the end of 2020, my husband started thinking more about a dream he’s talked about for years. The dream of opening his own coffee shop. In case you didn’t know, as well as being the Executive Producer of Creative Content for the blog (a title he gave himself), he ran one of the most popular coffee shops in Leeds. And whilst he loves the job, deep down he’s always wanted something for himself, his little corner of the coffee world.

At the beginning of 2021, he started doing more planning. For our anniversary, I got him a notebook dedicated to Miles & Co, which he has scribbled in every single day. Towards the end of last month, the funds to do this dream finally became available and it felt like we could see the dream coming together.

A DREAM BECOMING A REALITY.

To begin with, we were looking for shops, bricks and mortar to set up in. We loved the idea of doing something in the village that we currently live in. However, there’s not many available. To help with the risk and funding of this dream, Lee had spoken to a friend (who was a customer that Lee met many years ago and has followed my husband to every coffee shop he’s gone to) for help. One day, Lee came home and told me about this crazy idea that James had come up with and would I be interested in.

That crazy idea is a coffee van in a car park. The van actually belongs to our investor’s sister who wanted to pass it on to a new owner who was going to give it some love and attention. The car park is actually owned by his family. Everything seemed to be falling into place, however, it required my sign off for it to go ahead. So the three of us met up on Sunday after England won the game against Ukraine, we met up over coffee and talked details. I saw the van, saw the space and got the blessing to go ahead with leading the way on design. Sitting down with a cocktail we talked about more plans and it was decided, we’re going ahead with it.

INTRODUCING MILES & CO.

So what and who is Miles & Co? Miles is actually my husband’s Grandad’s surname. A great man who I sadly never met who raised him. So it seems fitting to honour him by naming the business after the man. The co represents all our friends and family who have helped us along the way.

Now, the plans for the van. As we speak, we are in the beginning stages of getting the area decked out for the opening. I’ve been planning, costing and designing, having the time of my life. I’ve been flexing my design muscles in our rental home for some time, but to work on a commercial project is a whole other beast. But it’s been great fun and I’m so excited to show off the finished results.

THE IMPORTANT INFO.

Do be sure to be following Miles & Co on Instagram for updates and when the grand opening is going to be. Also, check out our website. We’ll be updating it with news, services (we’re going to be offering the van out for weddings and events, so let us know if we can help!). Finally, we’re also going to be looking to do merch. Fabulous home pieces, coffee-related, that are going to look amazing in your home. Thank you for all your support over the years. I can’t wait to take you on this journey with us.
