My 30th Birthday
Stepping into a New Decade…
Today is my 30th birthday. It’s crazy to think that I’ve got to this grand old age. Looking back as a kid, I always thought that being 30 was so old. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I really looked forward to turning 30.
At the beginning of this year, I was so excited to head towards the end of the year and for once to truly celebrate my birthday with my friends. 2020 had some other ideas. In trying to find a silver lining in everything, a good thing to come out of this year is my appreciation for life. I’m truly grateful for my life, my health and the opportunities that I have available to me right now. Sure, I can’t celebrate the way I wanted to on my actual birthday. But I can still do dinner once lockdown is over. Our trip to Paris can happen in 2021 and will be ten times more fabulous.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE…
So what am I actually looking forward to for the next decade of my life? I’m hoping to hit some adulting moments. Mainly, I love to really get my finances in excellent shape, which I’m already on my way to. Also, I’d love to look to buy a house. I love renting, but all the DIY and one too many episodes of Fixer Upper, I really want to get my hands on a proper renovation project. Secretly I have the house account set up on Instagram ready for when it happens.
I’m also looking forward to travelling more. As soon as the world is open and it’s safe, this blog may potentially turn into a travel blog very soon. I’ve realised that after being cooped up at home, I want to stretch my wings and see the world. As soon as it is safe to do so, I’m renewing my passport and I’m off to see a corner of the world!
My final thing is investing. And that’s in both my finances and my wardrobe. In case you’ve not been following me on Instagram, a week today I start a new job! And with bigger responsibilities, comes a nice little pay rise. I feel like I’m entering that stage of my life where I want to be a bit more sophisticated, adulting. I’ve slowly started adding some classical pieces to my wardrobe, but I have my eyes on a new bag. Well, two new bags. Once won’t be until next November (it involves travelling to get it) but I want to get myself a new boss bag. Invest in a piece that I know is going to stand the test of time.
Here’s to my 30th birthday. I’m off to enjoy some surprises that Lee has planned for me. Starting this day with sparkles and continuing them into the next decade.
