The AEL rental home project is one near and dear to my heart. Not only is it the first-ever design project I took on, but it’s my current rental home. With limitations as to what we could do to the home, we maximised what was available to us and turned this rental house into a neutral, country-modern home.
With the home being a classic Victorian mid-terrace, we didn’t want to take away from the character of the home. However, we still want to add modern elements. The mixture of design allows for a unique statement. This meant bringing in some traditional elements you’d find in a Victorian home, but with a modern twist.
Something else to consider in mind was the fact that this home was a rental. Whilst we’d have loved a sledgehammer moment to really maximise the rooms, what was unique about this project as we had to make temporary changes that would last.
The rooms that were worked on in this project were the living room and kitchen. There are plans to give some updates to these spaces, along with also completely renovating the primary bedroom and bathroom. If that wasn’t enough, there are also plans to completely change up the basement and attic room, for more functionality and better usage.
