Creating a Courtyard Oasis.
As I mentioned, I originally started this project on a whim. I was scrolling on Pinterest getting light courtyard inspiration for our small space outside our kitchen. The plan is to go English garden with a mediterranean twist. And thus I landed on some amazing pins of limestone fountains. A gorgeous way of adding a water featuring into your garden, create some peace and help the wildlife that lives there.
Once I got my head around the idea of I wanted one of these into my courtyard, I started shopping. It was then when I saw the pice tag of these fountains I started to sweat. They are so expensive! I understand why, but there is no way I was going to get this signed off by my partner to spend that much money. So in the true style to myself, I had to get creative. And that’s when I started going down the road of how I could create one myself.

DIY Limestone Fountain.
This DIY was so easy to create and took no time at all. This is definitely something that you could build over a long weekend. Once you’ve created the limestone effect, the key is the colouring to make it as realistic as possible. Garden lime turned out to be the best way to get the natural beige. And using compost to create shadow and aging was the best decision I could make.
Now when it came to fountains, I had to go with something temporary, and this solar panel one was perfect. It means I can move the fountain around and it’s not connected to a water supply. This would also be perfect for a balcony allowing you to create that oasis.
The latest webisode on my YouTube channel talks through the steps you need to do in order to achieve something similar. It’s created such an atmosphere to our courtyard, and helped spur on a mini makeover of the space.
