Editor Notes: May

A New Season is Upon Us…
Welcome to a new section of the blog, Editor Notes. I use to do something similar years ago and decided to bring this back. Whilst I love the blog being a source of information, advice and recommendations, the blog has been lacking a personal touch recently. What was once a platform for me to write what I want does feel like it’s gone commercial.
So this this, I’m bringing back some more me to the content I’m creating. Welcome to the Editor Notes: May edition. May is the perfect time for something new. Spring is finally here. The weather is warmer, I’ve started to defrost and ready to cos play a coastal grandmother. Spring cleaning, prepping the garden and thinking about the next half of the year.
On a personal note, I’m heading back to the office after having almost the whole of the April off to recover from surgery. I feel so much better (that story coming very soon) and I’ve got a new focus for the rest of the year. Once of those being career. I’ve had way too much fun making more content than usual and you’ve all responded so well to it. In fact, some of you have demanded that I provide more of it.
Yes, the conversation and thoughts of going full time with content creation has been an idea from time to time. However, I had always somewhat resided myself to being a part time content creator, doing it as and when I had the time. However, the idea of taking this full time, seems more of a reality now, combining it with working more at the coffee shop.
It’s a dream at the moment, but something I’m thinking and planning for more and more.
“If we had no Winter, Spring would not be so pleasant.”
The Agenda for May.
May is all about getting back on track and reconnection. Celebrating my friend’s bridal shower. Mentoring sessions at the local all-girls high school, which we know is my favourite part of the job. Continue house searching. Getting the garden ready for growing produce. May is growth and I’m ready for it.
The Mood Board.
The editor notes mood board is all about what I want to bring to May. This mood board is all about freshness. Style, I’m ready for my Spring Wardrobe, once I can wear trousers with a button waistband. I’m also ready to incorporate more seasonal baking into the month, things with lemons, fresh herbs and fruits. I’ve had so much fun making preserves, loaf bakes and fresh baked doughnuts, I’m certainly going to do more of this over the next couple of weeks.
Finally interiors. My home certainly needs a refresh. Now, we are in the process of attempting to buy a first home, but that doesn’t mean I can’t look at a decor refresh for our home. Truthfully, a deep clean and patching up some areas will be more than enough. Also bringing in fresh florals. Because who doesn’t love fresh florals?
All this inspiration is what I’m hoping to bring to my socials, particularly TikTok. Bringing back the elevation and romanticising life back to my feeds.
