My New Hobby Just for Me…

Over the festive period, I took up a new hobby. I wanted something just for myself, something that I could do on the weekends, with no pressure. In the end, I decided to take up homemade candles and boy have I loved it.

I love candles. They are a great addition to your interiors, they can set the mood and fragrance your home in a way that other products can’t. My love for candles does come at a price, that of a very expensive monthly spend at some of my favourite places. There are also some candles that I would love to own but can’t get here in the UK. However, when I go to the US, I will be stock piling them. So to balance out the spend and bring myself the luxe candles I would love to fragrance my home, I decided to give homemade candles a go.

Homemade Candles.

Candle making is actually not that difficult. I would recommend reading some posts on how to do it or watching some videos on YouTube. The tricky bit is scent mixing. Ensuring you get the right combination of mid-notes and tops to really fill your home with scent. When I created my Christmas ones, I got many compliments on them. My dog walker asked if we had a real Christmas tree in our house because of my candles.

My signature one at the moment is my Santa Monica. I’ve never been the the place (one day). However, I felt that the name suited the fragrance, with the sage and Palo Santo wood. This candle was inspired by cleansing energy, so I love to burn it on a Sunday after a complete clean of the house.

I cannot wait to try out some kitchen garden scents come Spring & Summer time.
