Decorating My Home for the Holidays
It’s Time to Welcome in the Holiday Season…
I’m so excited to be finally decorating my home for the holidays. Normally, I would be decorating for Christmas quite early in the year, ideally at the beginning of November. However, this year I’m doing Vlogmas on my YouTube channel, so I had to sit patiently till the beginning of December to reveal and decorate. So about a week out from the deadline, it was time to get my home decorated for Christmas.
This year, I’ve gone in a totally different direction than usual. This season, I’ve embraced what I’m calling a Ralph Lauren Christmas, embracing the tartan, dark blues, greens and bronze tones. This is something that I’ve been heavily exploring on my Pinterest, as you can see from my Christmas board. We’re talking luxury heritage and cosy vibes. A traditional Christmas.
This year, I’ve decorated nearly all of the rooms in our home (though there are not that many to do). It’s my goal to decorate each room every year and I’m slowly building up to this. This is how I’ve decorated my home this year…
Our Ground Floor.
This year, the main event is our living room. We’ve, of course, got our Christmas tree which is the main event. This I’ve gone into detail about in Vlogmas on my YouTube channel. I love the coloured baubles that I’ve added to the tree, the green and blue really added something to the tree, incorporating the tartan ribbon into the decor.
For our fireplace, I did the same as last year, but I added the brass cowbells and red velvet ribbon. Again, adding this vintage touch to our decor. I truly think that once we work on the living room makeover, this room is going to look spectacular during the holidays.
As for our kitchen, I’ve added a garland around the window and a few decor pieces. This room hasn’t had much in terms of decor, but as with the living room, once we makeover this space then we will add to the decor collection.

Our Hallway.
As usual with our hallway, I changed over the artwork to something more seasonal. Now for the landing rail, I added a new garland from a local independent called Millhouse Interiors. This flocked garland is ideal for the stairs, combining the red velvet ribbon from the garland on our fireplace and the cowbells.
This space is often forgotten about, but I always like to make a moment in this space. As a transitional room for the upper spaces, it needs to have a moment.
Primary Bedroom & Bathroom.
For the final rooms in our home, I added a little bit of decor. When it comes to our bedroom, we have a larger headboard that allows me to add a garland to it. That and a faux fur blanket give this space a bit of an alpine feel to it. One day, I’d like to add a Christmas tree to the tree (a small one). However, we’re going to have to wait for a bigger home in order to do this.
As for our newly decorated bathroom, I added a small Christmas tree to give the space some character and changed up the hand towels. The bathroom doesn’t need too much done to it, but a few festive touches add a little character to the space. That, and some festive hand and body wash complete the experience.
