Practical & Chic…
When we first got out puppy, I will admit I somewhat romanticised about the dog walking outfits I would wear. There was a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them. The reality is very different. When you’re walking a dog at 6 am, looking amazing goes out of the window. You want comfort and ease when getting dressed for a dog walk.
Since this sudden burst of the bubble, I’ve been on a mission to find chic dog walking outfits. Turns out, the idea I had in my head was not too far off from the truth, just with a few tweaks. You can look somewhat presentable and chic whilst out with your furry friend, yet remain practical at the same time. Here are some of my wardrobe hacks to consider when putting together chic dog walking outfits…
Fleeces are Your Best Friend.
God, I love my fleeces, especially at 6 am. As bad as it’s sound, I’ve been known on the weekend not to take it off after our lunchtime walk, I’m just too comfy. Nana had it right! Both my fleeces are longline, covering my butt which makes them a great transitional piece for springtime walks. This cream one comes with a hood and this brown one is extra cosy.
Always Wear Leggings.
Leggings are so good when it comes to chic dog walking outfits. Not only are they moveable for when your running around after your dog, but they are pretty much wipeable, durable and easy to clean. I love these sports ones (I work out in them also) as they are high-waisted and come with a handy side pocket for my phone or treats.
Consider Investing in Slip-On Footwear.
Slip-on shoes have saved me so much time and effort, especially in the morning. No one wants to be faffing around with laces when the coffee hasn’t even kicked in yet. For me, my APL’s with be my ride or dies on dog walks. So comfy and so easy to put on and get out the door.
For more wetter, muddier times, I would consider going for more of low, chelsea-style welly. Comparted to my longer wellies, I reach for these more than often.
