One Week Down, a Few More to Go…

We are one week down with Miles and Co Coffee Shop and boy, is it all happening. It feels like not a lot has been happening, but there has been a lot of progress. We have our 8 November deadline and, fingers crossed, we are on sight to hit this opening date.

Yesterday, the first webisode in my three-part series of building the coffee shop went live on my YouTube channel. Hopefully, you lovely lot enjoyed it. There was a lot happening at the beginning and then a slow point towards the end of the week. This was a combination of the projects we were working on and both of us being ill. Pretty much both passing out when we got home at the end of the day.

Thankfully, we’re both feeling better (I’ve still lost my voice but it’s getting there) and things are picking up. The painting is completed, we’re speaking to professionals and getting ready to install the floor. It’s all happening…

Plans for the Week Ahead.

So far, the next big hurdle is the flooring. We found some but got wind from a friend of some that is much nicer and more cost effective. Once we get the samples, we’ll be able to make a decision and get installing.

Inbetween all this we have the contractor coming to install the bar, a consultation with a plumber and a run-through with our sparky to talk plugs and lighting. Part of me feels like I’ve let people down by not doing it all myself like originally planned. However, if did do it all myself I wouldn’t be present for our opening. So I know there’s strength in choosing to get help.

Once they are working on their bits, I can concentrate on more interior styling. This will be the fun part. Other things that will be fun to work on are painting trim and woodwork. I can’t wait to bring in more of our brand colours into the building. Also, I’m looking forward to the things that I know people won’t focus on, but I will. Things like the music we’ll play, the scent of the space. Also, Christmas. With us opening mid-November I get to think about decorating for the holidays. Lee is not going to know what to do with himself!

Do make sure you’re following Miles and Co Coffee on Instagram, as well as my own for more updates and I’ll be back this Sunday with week two of our shop build.
