A Little Behind the Scenes of the Inspiration for the Coffee Shop…

We are within the second week of the build of the coffee shop for Miles and Co Coffee and boy, has it been a journey. I thought that today it would talk you guys through the inspiration for the coffee shop. As some of you may have known, the coffee shop was originally going to be a van, but the end goal was always to own a building. As I spoke about in a previous post at the beginning of the week, things changed quickly and we are now in a building.

It’s been so much fun, as well as challenging and stressful, creating a coffee shop. The design process in general has been the bit where I shine. I’ve been planning mood boards from the beginning, so to see my design come to life has been so much fun.

The Design Process.

My thoughts behind the design of the coffee shop were to create somewhere warm and inviting. As much as I love light and airy interiors, I wanted to go in the opposite direction for Miles & Co Coffee. Personally, the Scandi coffee shop has been and done, it’s time for something different.

The dark green was an accidental choice but one that was perfect for the location, especially with the outside already being that colour. This complemented well with the idea for the dark browns I wanted to introduce. There will, of course, be some light, with some white walls to complement the greens and browns. I’m also interested in incorporating vintage furniture where I can, it’s a small space but it will give the shop that old-worldly charm.

You can find more images for my inspiration for the coffee shop (like the ones below) on Pinterest. I’m documenting the building process on my YouTube channel, the first episode is already up for you to watch. If you’re interested in seeing more behind the scenes in real-time, then do check out my Instagram Stories and also Miles & Co Coffee Instagram Stories (do follow if you’re not already). We’ll be letting you know when the shop is open and I can’t wait to see your faces very soon.
