My Backyard Makeover Reveal

Our Outdoor Space is Finally Completed…

I’m so excited to show off my backyard makeover. I started working on this last year when we all realised how important our outdoor space was. However, due to everyone wanting to do up their gardens, my makeover took a while. I was patiently waiting for garden furniture to be available, which actually, gave me plenty of time to plan out my backyard makeover.

When it comes to our backyard, we don’t have a lot of space to work with. Our backyard is a through-garden, which means we cannot block off access to the public. However, I still wanted to create a country escape, somewhere where I can relax, unwind and entertain.

The Basic Elements.

We started with the planters. I didn’t want to cut off the area in the backyard makeover, but I wanted to have some elements of privacy. Just a little separation so that we have moments of alone time in the garden. These planters were perfect. With the trellis, we’ve got that barrier, plus somewhere to grow more flowers. I painted them black so that they would blend with the stone wall and allow the green of the leaves to pop. Plant-wise, I went with some jasmine and hydrangeas, some of my favourite florals.

For the plant stand, I was really inspired by this post from Julia Berolzheimer. I wanted to create something similar in my home, so I got this plant stand and it works perfectly for our space. I love decorating it with my herbs and seeing them peeping out of the window when I’m in my kitchen. This autumn/ winter, I’m looking forward to changing it up. Watch out for this October because it’s going to be an explosion of fall colours.

Our Outdoor Living Space.

One of the pride and joys of our backyard makeover is our bench. I have lusted after this rattan bench for years and I was so glad to finally get it this summer. It’s perfect for the space, creating that English/ French country living. I’d love to complete the set, but sadly the garden is not big enough. Hopefully someday soon. This bench is nestled nicely in the corner, perfect for a cup of coffee on sunny afternoons.

To complete the look, I got these cushions, extra comfort and texture. I wanted to play with the natural colours, so opted for rattan and a sage green for the courtyard.

Outdoor Dining.

We don’t have any dining space indoors, so it was always a dream to create an outdoor dining space for alfresco dining. I love eating outside when we can and was desperate to have as many people over to sit when possible. We got this dining table and it’s perfect. It can fit four people when we need it, but it’s perfect for everyday use just for me and my husband.

Chair-wise, I would not compromise. I wanted a dining chair that had an armrest. I don’t particularly like chairs without them, I like something you can lean back on with your glass. These white metal ones are perfect, they blend with the outdoor decor and go perfectly with the table.

I love this outdoor space, I’m going to soak it up for the last of summer and maybe into Autumn. As long as the year will allow us.
