Home Security to Invest in
Keeping The Things You Love Secure…
Sadly, a couple of weeks ago our neighbour’s home got robbed while they were on holiday. We believe it must have been in the middle of the night as we were home and didn’t hear a thing. It shook us and the three of us that all live next door to each other started getting serious about investing in our home security.
We had a few pieces from collaborations that I’ve worked on with Hive years ago, but since this event, we’ve invested in more pieces. As we already had the Hive hub, it was a no brainer to purchase more pieces from the brand.
Now, I don’t want to turn this into a fear piece. In the years we’ve lived here, this is the first incident. However, when it comes to your home, you can never be too safe. Having a smart, secure home is something we should all have. The best thing is, Hive makes it possible and affordable. Also, these things can be accessed from your phone so you can easily alarm your home on the go. Finally, all these pieces can be connected to your Alexa, so securing your home is a breeze.
So if you’re interested in securing your home, but have no idea what to invest in, here are my top suggestions for home security…
SECURITY CAMERAS.
Camera’s were a huge thing that we started investing in. We’ve had the outdoor camera for a while, but we’ve recently started syncing it up with the rest of our smart devices. Now, if there’s movement in the evenings, our kitchen lights will turn on. You can also zone areas that your camera is looking at, which is great for keeping an eye on everything.
Other camera’s we’ve invested in are our indoor cameras. We have one in the living room pointed towards the front door, which is also synced with our lights. I’m also thinking of getting one more to point towards our car, mainly cause we are parked on a street.

MOTION SENSORS.
Motion sensors are the next thing we’re getting as part of investing in home security. Mainly, we’re using them upstairs in the landing just in case of any motion. The Hive motion sensors are sleek and minimal but do the job. Like the cameras, they can link with our lights, warning any intruders that people are in the house. Plus, they are the most affordable of the home security products, so perfect as a first investment.

DOOR & WINDOW SENSORS.
Finally, we’ve got door & window sensors, a classic for home security to invest in. We’ve got these on our exterior doors as well as the upper windows. It’s quite funny when one of us is home and the other is alerted to a door opening. We’ll always text each other to check if our packages have arrived. Again, we link these with our light bulbs, we’re a full-on smart home.
Not only for security, but these are great for checking to make sure everything has been closed. We’ve all had those moments of sudden panic when we’re on our way somewhere, so to be able to just quickly check your phone for some peace of mind is ideal.
