A Classic Espresso Martini
A Classic Cocktail You Can Make at Home…
I forgot how easy it was to make espresso martinis. It’s a cocktail I love to have out when we go out to dinner or I’m meeting the girls for a catch-up. And yet, it always surprises me how easy it is to make. Since 2020, I’ve made sure that I’ve always got the ingredients in my kitchen. Usually, on a Friday, I’ll whip up this cocktail and enjoy it as a reward for getting through the week.
When I showed off my espresso martini the other day on Instagram Stories, there were so many people asking me how I made them and how easy it was. The truth is, this is probably one of the easiest cocktails to do. There are only three ingredients to it (plus one more if you like it sweeter). If you’re interested in making the cocktail yourself, here’s how you can do it…
HOW TO MAKE AN ESPRESSO MARTINI.
The main ingredients to an espresso martini are espresso, coffee liqueur and vodka. Sometimes, you can add honey for a little sweetness, but only a tad. In terms of vodka and coffee liqueur, you want the good stuff. I love Icelantic vodka, it’s so fresh and pure. For coffee liqueur, you cannot go wrong with Kahlua, it is the best.
To make the cocktail you’ll need martini glasses or champagne coupes and a shaker. Add ice to your shaker, followed by your freshly brewed espresso. One shot of coffee is enough, which is roughly 25 ml. For your vodka, you need 50 ml and your coffee liqueur you’ll need 35 ml. Sometimes, I like to add a little more, just for that coffee taste.
Once all your ingredients are in the shaker, you shake! You want to go for as long as you can in order to get enough of a froth on top of your cocktail. I usually go until the shaker is too cold to hold anymore. Finally, it’s time to pour into your glasses. Pour slowly so you can ensure you can a nice layer of foam on top. Once poured you are ready to sip and enjoy.
I do hope you enjoy making this cocktail, it’s such a delicious evening drink that I know you’re going to love this Friday afternoon…
