All The Things I Need to Set Myself Up for the (From Home) Working Week…

I’m about 6 months into my work from home journey and I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. It was interesting at first, difficult to get my head into the swing of things. However, gradually I’ve got there and I’m loving the work from home life (I feel before when I made this statement I was kidding myself a little). With us looking at the likelihood of this situation lasting until Spring next year, I’ve realised recently, I’ve needed to upgrade my work from home office set-up.

As you would have seen from my previous post, I completely upgraded my home office. I realised that by treating it like a temporary situation, I wasn’t getting much out of the day. I needed to invest in my office situation to be the best and make the most out of my day. Slowly, along the way, I’ve learnt of some of the things that I need that have helped my work from home set-up. Here are my top five things that I cannot live without in my home office…

BLUE LIGHT GLASSES.

I absolutely swear by my blue light glasses. Whenever I’m doing any laptop work, I’m always wearing them. You may think of them as a faff, but these have seriously worked for me. Not only have they helped with reducing my headaches and my eyes getting tired throughout the day, but they have contributed to reducing the likelihood of myself getting optical migraines. I love my square-shaped tortoiseshell ones. They are over-sized but they are fabulous for feeling like a boss lady. If you are someone who stares at a screen for long periods, then you need to look into investing these glasses.

OFFICE CANDLE.

Scent is everything in a home, and that includes your work from home set-up. You want something that is going to put you in the right mind frame to completely boss your day. The key is making sure you get something that you love the smell of but isn’t too over-powering. For me, I love the Neom Scent to Make You Happy candle. It’s such an uplifting fragrance that fills the room with happiness. Utterly gorgeous and perfect for a working environment.

THE RIGHT OFFICE EQUIPMENT.

As much as it’s great to make your office look beautiful, you want to make sure you’re investing in the right home office equipment. For me, that involves a laptop stand, wireless keyboard and mouse. Now, your practical items can also be gorgeous too. For example, I love my new leather mouse mat. It’s such a simple item that’s now been elevated.

Now there are some pieces that I’ve splurged on. I’m obsessed with my pen pot, I purchased this when I didn’t even have a desk! It’s unfortunately not available anymore, however, this one from the same place is equally as fabulous.

PRETTY STATIONARY.

No one loves stationery as much as I do. Any excuse to get a new notebook. I’ve found that it’s worth investing in these types of things. You want products that you are using every day to stand the test of time, good paper and good ink. I’m obsessed with this notebook from Papier. It’s leatherbound, embossed and perfect for every day notings. These notebooks can be embossed with your initials and are a great gift for any stationery lovers like myself. I absolutely love it and using it during my work. It certainly brightens up my working day using it.

SNACKS & HYDRATION.

The most important part of working from home. You need to make sure you’re not constantly at your desk and you’re keeping hydrated. I love my new gallon water bottle. I fill this up at the beginning of the day and then that’s my aim. Most of the week I’m able to drink all of it and I’ve noticed the differences since starting this challenge. Not only do I feel healthier, but I’m able to concentrate more, focus and feel sharper. Yes, it’s a burden to lug around, but once it’s at my desk, it’s good to go for the rest of to day. The challenge is to drink enough so it gets light enough to carry it around.
