Bringing a Little Autumnal Decor to MY Home…
Following on from decorating my fireplace mantle for Fall, my main objective was to give my kitchen porch an Autumnal makeover. I know doing a fall porch scape is a very American thing. But I love the pride that people put into decorating their home and creating something delightful for the eye to see when you come home from a hard day’s work. It’s something I can see gradually making it’s way over to the UK and I wanted to be one of the first to do it. But with an English twist to it.
Let me tell you, I had too much fun looking for inspo on Pinterest. There are so many different ways you could go with an Autumnal porch scape. For me, I wanted to bring in the warmth of the season. This meant bringing in the oranges, yellows, and reds. At the same time, I wanted to purchase some new plants that were suitable for our Yorkshire home and will survive the season. For me, this meant bringing home this gorgeous red flowering plant and a couple of heathers in some deep colours. I cannot wait for when they get bigger and are full of colour!
MY FALL PORCH SCAPE DETAILS.
Once the plants were in place, now was time for the details. Firstly with our giant gorgeous wreath. I got this one from Sunday Living. Sadly this one is no longer on the website, however, this one is very similar and equally fabulous! Next was a mat. I love the American way of the buffalo check with a neutral mat on top of it. I found this black and white check mat on Amazon and it’s great. It’s machine washable and perfect for pulling out during this time of the year.
The final finishing touch to my fall porch scape is the pumpkins. These ones I picked up at a local pumpkin patch. It’s great to support locals and bring some colour to our home. And not to worry, no pumpkin will go to waste. Once it’s time to take the decor in, I’ll turn the pumpkins into a soup. The flesh obviously cannot be eaten but the inside will still be good so nothing goes to waste.
I’m so happy with my porch styling. I cannot wait for this to be an annual tradition of decorating my home for the seasons.
