Bounce That Light Across Your Home…

It’s safe to say that my top purchase suggestion would be getting mirrors for your home. Along with a rug, they are the foundation for your interior style. Mirrors are a great decorative piece for your home, as well as being practical. If you have a small home, they can help to make your rooms feel larger. If your room is North facing, it can help bounce the limited light around your home.

Mirrors are something that I would 100% recommend investing in. If you’re going to spend your hard earned pennies anywhere, you cannot go wrong with a mirror. Good quality mirrors will stand the test of time and look fabulous in your home. If I was going to suggest one place to get them from, it would be La Redoute. They have such great options at some fabulous price points. Pretty much every mirror in my home is from there, including this brass one in my living room.

When you’re investing in a mirror, there are always some things you need to think about before purchasing. Here are my top tips to consider when buying mirrors for your home…

GO AS LARGE AS YOU CAN.

When buying a mirror, go as large as you possibly can. You don’t want anything that you cannot navigate around. However, the larger the mirror, the light will fill the room, as well as feeling more open and spacious. For a fireplace, you want a slight gap at either side, to make sure it anchors the space.

Larger mirrors are an investment but 100% worth it, especially if you live in a smaller home. If you have a tiny space, going for a thinner frame will help the mirror to not be too imposing in your home. However, if you have the space to do so, a chunky thick frame looks so luxe and expensive.

CONSIDER USING THEM AS WALL ART.

Sometimes, mirrors don’t have to be practical. If you’re wanting to decorate your walls, but aren’t feeing artwork, then a decorative mirror might be the way to go. I really didn’t want to do artwork above our bed. However, our walls are so tall we needed to fill the space with something. This brass mirror was a perfect choice, decorative, fills the space and bounces a little light.

Mirrors are such a good option for filling up wall space, a little different from the traditional wall art.

PLAY WITH MATERIALS.

Mirrors are such a great way to add texture into your home. If you can, stay away from the traditional mirror. Embrace the brass or black metals to add some modern touches. Also, wooden/ rattan mirrors are on the rise and are a must-have in any neutral home. I love a mirror with a bamboo frame, they just fantastic and add such a lovely relaxing vibe to your home. I love this wooden mirror from La Redoute, I have it ready and waiting to go up in our kitchen.
