Easy Daily Habits That Will Change Your Life
SMALL THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO MAKE SUCH A DIFFERENCE TO YOUR everyday LIFE…
I’m a creature of daily habits. I love a schedule and organisation and ensuring that there are things I tick off on a daily basis is how I ensure I’m in the right frame of mind to kick butt and get everything ticked off. Recently, (as you would have seen from my Instagram Stories) this year has really been about redefining my daily routine and changing up my everyday life. There are some old habits that I’ve been doing religiously since I was a teenager, to new things that I’ve incorporated that have made the world of difference. If you are wanting to change up your lifestyle and feel more on it and ready to take on the world, here are my top daily habits that will help you achieve this…
MAKE YOUR BED.
There’s nothing better than making your bed every single day. Not only does it set you off for the perfect day, but it’s such a welcoming thing to see at the end of the day. It honestly isn’t that much effort and will make such a difference to your day. Plus, research has shown this is the easiest daily habit to boost happiness. What more can you ask for?
MAKE A TO-DO LIST BASED ON LIFE GOALS.
A to-do list is not revolutionary, but this is a new way of ensuring you get everything completed. There are things that we have to do on a daily basis. However, it’s worth carving time out in your day to focus on completing a task that will help you to achieve your life goals. What I like to do is think about what I want to achieve in the next five years and work backwards, figuring out each step in order to achieve this. Once I’ve got this sorted, I give myself time each day to work towards this step, thus getting closer to my long-term goals.
Making a to-do list with life goals in mind will show you where you should be spending time and where your focus needs to be. It puts everything into perspective and you feel like things you are doing now are having a long term effect on your life.
GET UP AND MOVE.
Daily exercise is honestly one of the best things that I’ve introduced into my life. Getting up and moving has made the world of difference to my health and wellness. I really look forward to the days when I go on my daily walks first thing in the morning or those times when I boss a new workout before I’ve started my day. You do not need to be slaving it a the gym. Most of the workouts I do, do not require equipment. Just an attitude to get the workout done to the best of your ability. Walking is the easiest form of exercise you can do. Even if it’s 30 minutes a day. Just getting away from your desk, refreshing your mind will make the world of difference to your productivity.
APPRECIATE THE VALUE IN SAYING NO.
As a people person, the idea of saying no and letting someone down kills me. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learnt the value in saying no. Or rather, not right now. Take for example a friend wanting to meet up for coffee at the weekend. Now, I want to go, but I know if I do I’m going to fall behind on blogging work if I do so. Rather than no, I’m most likely going to say ‘not right now, but let’s schedule for another day’. That way, I’ve got a deadline to get stuff completed by and something to look forward to later on in the week.
However, if there’s something I really do not want to do, I’ve learnt that it is okay to say no. If it’s going to bring me joy and it’s not an important event, then it’s okay to reject the invite.
MANAGE YOUR MONEY BASED ON WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY.
Money has been a huge focal point for me and my family this year. I’ve learnt that it is far more rewarding to ensure you’re only spending money on things that bring you joy. Now, there is no joy that comes from paying bills. However, there is joy in knowing you’ve got a roof over your head, a phone that works and all the utilities that you could possibly want.
Now if buying a coffee brings you joy every day, then go for it. However, for me, the long term of saving and building a nest egg brings me more joy than coffee. In this situation, the thing that brings me more joy trumps and that is what I will ‘spend’ my money on. Every joy is unique to each person, so you have to think about it and manage your money from there.
