My Most Productive Month of the Year…
As I’ve been banging on about on my Instagram Stories, I’m so looking forward to getting some home projects completed in September. It’s my fresh start month and I’m on a mission to get my home in tip-top shape. With a kitchen makeover happening this month, I’m in that mood to clear and sort.
I’ve got my list ready and I’m prepared for my husband to be surprised when he gets home from work. Of course, there are going to be a few more complicated DIY projects that I’m going to need his help on. If you’re riding the same organisation wave that I am, here are some home projects to sink your teeth into this weekend…
CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN & BATHROOM CABINETS.
The number one at the top of my list, especially with the kitchen makeover in mind this month. This is a total purge that I cannot wait to do. I’m being totally ruthless with my kitchen cabinets and get rid of anything we do not use. The pasta machine might be on that list unless my husband can give a good argument for it.
With my bathroom cabinets, it’s all about getting rid of the products that I’m no longer going to use or have expired. You’ll be surprised what you’ll find at the back of your drawers. Once cleared you’ll have so much space to fill with new things that are going to bring joy to your home and life.
DEEP CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN & BATHROOM.
Another one that I’m looking forward to doing. As we’re going to be clearing out the kitchen for the makeover, it’s worth giving everything a deep clean before we start the DIY to try and reduce the mess. Of course, we’ll be doing a deep clean afterwards.
I’m also adding to this to deep clean the fridge. I regularly clean our fridge. However, as we’re about to get rid of ours for a new one, I’m not going to be doing it this time around. But I would 100% recommend you do it to your fridge. Getting that thing smelling fresh will make it worth it.
And whilst I’m clearing out the bathroom cabinets, it’s worth giving the bathroom a deep clean. Now, this room falls into my husband’s cleaning, so I actually won’t be working on this. But it will be nice to get the bathroom looking fabulous and feeling sparkly clean.

HAVE A WARDROBE CLEAROUT.
One of my favourite things to do and will 100% bee happening this weekend. Giving your closet a clear out completely refreshes your mind. I do my seasonally and with the colder weather rolling in already, now seems the perfect time to do this. Swapping out my seasonal clothes gets me into that cosy mind for Fall. It also allows me to see gaps in my wardrobe that I’m in need of.
Whilst I’m swapping over from Summer to Autumn, I will also make the change to give my outerwear some TLC. This means giving them a quick refresh, booking them on a date at the dry cleaners and de-bobbling them. Giving them a lift ready for them to work hard for the next few months is how my coats have stood the test of time and lasted over the years.
CLEAR OUT YOUR BEDSIDE TABLES.
I can’t be the only one who has a Monica cupboard next to my bed? Other than our passports, I have no idea what’s in our bedside tables. If you’re like me and your bedside table is becoming a dumping ground, use this weekend to clear out and organise.
Now, personally, for me, this will involve a deep clean of the bedroom. Giving everything a wipe down, getting rid of dust bunnies. Anything to give our bedroom a quick refresh.
COMPLETE DIY JOBS YOU HAVE BEEN PUTTING OFF.
There’s a ton of fixer-uppers that we’ve been putting off because ‘we’re so busy’. If you got some DIY that’s been forgotten about, these need adding to your list of home projects to tackle this weekend. For me, this list includes replacing bulbs that have gone out in our kitchen, fixing skirting boards in our hallway, painting the bannister (in need of some serious TLC) and hole filling that the previous tenants left.
Perhaps there’s a gallery wall you’ve been dying to put up or there are a couple of home snags that you know need fixing, make a list, go to the DIY store and get your bits and get fixing!
