It’s All In The Little Details…
One of my favourite things to purchase for my home is small decor accents. They are simple and perfect for giving your home an extra lease of life. I love hunting out good bargains and gems that will stand the test of time. It can be confusing to navigate around exactly what small decor accents you should be buying for your home. The main thing to remember is that if it brings you joy and reflects your personality, it’s a winner. However, for those who want a little more direction and a mini shopping list to spend their hard earn pennies on, here are my top suggestions for decor pieces you should be buying for your home…
VASES & STATUES.
The best place to start is with vases and statues. These can be found far and wide across many home accounts. When I’m choosing these items I like to ensure two things. Does this reflect my interior style or does it open up a conversation to guests? Vases do not have to be practical (aka always hosting some form of floral arrangements). I have many pots that are only to be seen. A lot of the time, these are mainly to draw the eye upwards and create styling points. Something you guys know I love to do. Some of my favourite places to get some of these gorgeous pieces are Homesense and H&M Home.

ARTWORK.
Artwork in a home is one of my favourite things to decorate a home with. One thing to consider is that small decor doesn’t mean small artwork. In my home, all my artwork is large and there for everyone to see. There are so many different styles that you can go for. Photographs, graphic prints and illustrations. There’s so many options to make sure that it suits your interior style. For my home, most of my prints are in neutral tomes and line drawings, with a few vintage photographs in black and white. My favourite place to get prints from are Desenio, but H&M Home has recently launched a great collection that would be great if you’re looking for some affordable art to go on your wall.
THROW CUSHIONS.
Throw cushions are a great addition to your sofa and another small way that you can add decor accents. They not only are practical, needed requirement for having a cosy moment on your couch, but they are also a great way to inject some personality. For me, my throw cushions are neutral and with a bit of texture. I like to mix it up so the eyes dart across the sofa. Of course, I do like to add a little bit of colour. Just a few hints of pink and navy, colours that can be found across my home.
When it comes to throw cushions, you have to make sure that you are going for a mixture of sizes. I love a big chunky cushion and when combined with a few smaller cushions, you have a great mixture that allows your eye to dance. One of my favourite places to purchase throw cushions from is La Redoute. So many different styles and such amazing quality.
COFFEE TABLE BOOKS.
I always say this, but coffee table books are one of the best ways to add decor and styling moments. A stack of coffee table books can become a tall base for a lamp or statue to sit on. They can easily fill gaps on your bookcase or coffee table. Also, they help drive a conversation and show off your personality. With my avid collection of interior and fashion books, it’s clear where my interests lie. As always, coffee table books can be an investment or a bargain find. You’ve just got to find the right ones for you and what you love.

FAUX BOTANICALS.
I’m passionate about adding a touch of life and greenery in your home. And whilst I have a large collection of real plants, faux botanicals are great decor accents that can add interest and joy to your home. I love having a couple of branches on hand to create bouquets, ones that can be easily swapped out for real ones when I need them. Homesense is a fabulous place to get some great faux botanicals. Dowsing & Reynolds has a new range of preserved stems, real flowers that have been treated so that they are dried and stand the test of time. I love their wildflower collection! You can never go wrong with a bunch of eucalypti, they are very much in vogue right now and are a great way of creating a floral arrangement in your home.
