My Work From Home Office Setup

Our New Normal…
Well, what a difference a day makes. In less than 24 hours our lives completely shifted. It’s been a week since I’ve started to work from home and since last Friday it’s been announced that this is not changing for the foreseeable future. It’s a sad time, but when life gives you these times, you have two options. I have chosen the opportunity to see some lightness in this situation and to pass this onto others. So on Tuesday afternoon, I started creating my work from home office setup.
Personally, I’m not one for working on the sofa all the time (though I don’t mind the odd blog post writing). But my job involves analysing data and going from one screen to another so I need a proper desk set up. We already had this desk from Ikea for Lee and his drawings. However, since he’s busy handling how to sort out his main job (support local guys!), I’ve kicked him out of this room and taken over. This room is actually our spare bedroom, the last room to get a rental renovation makeover. My work from home office setup is not exactly how I would want it to look like. But for now, it will work and I’ll give it a proper makeover one day…
MY DESK SETUP.
Along with my Ikea desk, I have this chair, which is actually from my dressing table. The previous chair that Lee used is really hurting my back and this one isn’t the best. Definitely need to look into investing in another one. However, if you are interested in getting this chair for your home, this is the one that I brought, it’s great for getting ready at. The only other thing that was already in the house was my banana leaf plant. I needed some life in this room so I brought him up for the time being. Not sure if he will live here full time, but sure does look pretty at hiding my wires!
The next stuff came from my office. I love my second screen for being able to put things side to side without minimising the windows. I would also not be able to function without my laptop stand and monitor stand.
FINISHING TOUCHES.
To make it feel a little more like home and stylised. I have a few career books stacked with a frame just to create a styling moment. No office of mine is complete without a place to put my coffee. I stoke this coaster from downstair, I hate water rings! I also have some form of notepad for a to-do list. I like to know exactly what I’m doing that day and make sure it’s manageable. I love this notebook, I use it on a daily basis. Especially the gratitude box. In this time, it’s ideal to think about the good that is happening and focus on the positive to get us through.
This is pretty much my setup for working from home right now. I hope to make it into something more glamorous. But that can wait until another time.
