How to Ensure You’re Achieving Your Goals in 2020
Because you should be able to slay your goals this year also…
I love setting goals, as you will know with my monthly goals. But I don’t like setting myself goals for the sake of doing so. These are all things I want to actively achieve, complete throughout the year. This year, I think is truly going to be about optimising and improving yourself. A new decade and a new way to push yourself.
To ensure that you are achieving your goals in 2020, you’ve got to be strategic, proactive with your approach. While goal-setting can be tricky, it can also be massively rewarding. Here’s how to actually do it and kick butt in 2020…
CATEGORIES YOUR GOALS.
Though I have my monthly goals, as I spoke about in my 2020 goals blog post, I’ve very much categories the things I’m working on into three sections; family, healthy and work. I find it is better to figure out the main goal for the sections in your life and to go from there with smaller goals. By categorising your goals, you’re helping yourself to see where your priorities lie. Organising them into more bite-size fashion will help you to smash them off one by one. This can be in an Excel document or write them down in a notebook, organising them into a fashion that makes sense to you will help you boss them.
GET SMART WITH YOUR GOALS.
When working towards anything, you’ve got to get practical with what you’re aiming for. In order to ensure you’re achieving your 2020 goals, getting SMART with them will help you to complete them quickly. By setting specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound goals, your ideas will move forward much more quickly. For example, you want to turn your blog into a full-time gig- how are you going to do this? For this, I would work backwards. So you want to look at creating a product- what do you need for that product. That could be a designer to do the graphics. In order for the graphics to be done, you need a plan in place ready. Once you know the plan, work out the details and the timeframe you’re going to do this- you’ll be bossing it in no time.
FIGURE OUT YOUR WHY.
A lot of the time, I see people setting goals/ doing things without knowing why. No goal works without having your heart in it. If you’re purely doing something to impress others, prove yourself to others or tick off major life goals for other people, then it’s never going to happen. Whatever you’re doing as part of achieving your goals in 2020, ensure that the reason why you’re doing it screams out loud from the rooftops. Leave the people-pleasing and the comparison game behind, and do a personal audit on your list of goals. Shout about how much you’re smashing these goals on your Instagram and how good it feels to be doing it for you.
