ALL Your INTERIOR Q&A’s Answered…

I get a lot of questions on my Instagram about my home. Along with answering some of your questions on Instagram Stories, I decided to summerise my answers to your questions in this home decor Q&A post. And whilst I will still continue to do my Q&A stories on my Instagram (one coming up very soon!), I figured having a post with everything in one place would also be useful to you. All your interior questions answered in one place…

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR MIRROR AND RUG IN YOUR LIVING ROOM FROM?

I’m constantly asked about these two things on my Instagram account. My brass mirror is from La Redoute. It’s such a good find and great for if you want a simple, chic mirror in your home. My rug is also from La Redoute. It’s such a great store for interiors. Recommend everyone check out their website, they have some great products that will look great in your home.

WHY ARE YOU DOING UP YOUR HOME WHEN YOU RENT?

This is a big question that needs a whole blog post to go into the full reason as to why I am renovating my rental home. For this home decor Q&A, the simple answer is that we are looking to rent long term and I wasn’t happy with how the house looked. Everything we’ve done is cheap and the majority can be removed and taken with me if we wanted to.

If you’re living in a rental home for a while and are not happy with the way it looks, I would always recommend looking into giving it a makeover. Just remember, always ask your landlord if it’s okay.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR COFFEE TABLE BOOKS FROM?

For most of my books, I mostly shop on Amazon for them. Such great and easy delivery. And you find some amazing books. My coffee table book has been growing over the years and I will keep adding to it for many years to come. I’ll create a list of the books that I have and I’ll link it here so it’s easy for you lovely lot to shop them.

ARE YOU EVER TEMPTED TO ADD COLOUR TO YOUR HOME?

Yes but in my own way. I have plans for a home office where I want to use colour in that I think will look gorgeous. I’ve recently talked about incorporating colour into your neutral home, it’s easy to do without feeling like you’re going too off from your own interior style.

IS YOUR KITCHEN COUNTER REAL MARBLE?

Oh no. Nope, it’s not. It actually removable contact paper! My number one tip recommendation for anyone renting. You can see the full before and after of our kitchen in this post. This rental makeover was the biggest one we did, in terms of physical work and how much of a difference it made to our home. It’s also going to be featured in a book which will be out in May! I’m so excited!

FAVOURITE ROOM IN YOUR HOME?

It changes weekly, but I do adore my living room. It’s so calm and peaceful. A lovely place to chill after a long day at work. Plus, the transformation we did to it has made it look totally different. So glad we gave the space a makeover.

ARE YOU TRAINED PROFESSIONALLY IN INTERIOR DESIGN?

I am not. I went to university for Fashion Studies but I’ve always been into design. It’s something that I have thought about looking into studying and gaining a qualification in it. Maybe one day. For now, it’s just what I’m learning on the job.

HAS YOUR LANDLORD EVER SAID NO TO ANY RENOVATION REQUESTS?

Yes. I really want to get rid of the brown carpet. Unfortunately, my landlord said no unless we were willing to pay more in rent. Just something we were not prepared to do.

WHAT TYPE OF PLANTS DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOME?

Far too many! The ones that are thriving are my fiddle leaf fig plant, my banana leaf plant and my monstera. Which has taken over the hallway and needs a trim!

WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACES TO BUY HOMEWARE FROM?

La Redoute is a great place to start. I’m also obsessed with Anthropologie (who isn’t?) and Zara Home. I’m also a huge fan of H&M Home, which is great for decorative pieces. Homesense is a great treasure trove of all different items that I love to find home decor pieces from. There are so many places that I love to get interior pieces from, but these are some great places to start.

I hope you enjoyed this home decor Q&A. If you have any more questions, please feel free to leave me a comment and I’ll happily answer them.

  1. Your home always looks so stylish and that it could be straight out of a glossy homes magazine. It looks a very calm and restful place to live.
