Hair Care for my new blonde hair…
If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll know that towards the end of last year I dyed my hair for the first time in a decade. The last time I dyed my hair was when I was 18 (photos are hidden deep on my private Facebook page…) and since then my hair has been my natural colour. And whilst I do like my natural colour, I miss my bright blonde hair from my youth.
So for my birthday, I treated myself to Balayage. From what I was told, it highlights that last as long a full head of a hair, but better. Especially the way my colourist did it. I cannot recommend Russell Eaton in Leeds (my hairdressers) enough for their fabulous service. I love the blonde he put in and I’ve been advised this will last for about six months. Which is perfect for my bank balance.
To make sure it lasts a long time, I’ve had to up my haircare routine. I’m usually quite easy-going, but now I have a full-on regiment. This is everything I’m doing to care for my blonde hair…
WASHING YOUR BLONDE HAIR.
The first thing I do when I care for my blonde hair starts in the shower. I was my hair every day (I know, I know. Don’t judge) and when I do I use a thickening shampoo and conditioner. My hair is quite fine but I have a lot of it, so it sits flat on my head. Every Sunday I wash my hair with a purple shampoo to give my blonde a refresh and looking gorgeous. I’m loving using the Wella Professionals Invigo Blonde Recharge Shampoo and Conditioner. The purple shampoo and conditioner gives my hair a refresh and brings back the coolness in my blonde tones.
MAINTENANCE AND DETANGLING.
The only downside to my new hair colour is the knots. I have quite silky hair usually, smooth like a baby. However, since adding bleach to my hair, it is always knotty. Every single time I wash it. The one product I now swear by is Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Leave-In Conditioner. You guys, this stuff is worth every penny. It’s a great detangler and leaves my hair looking shiny and knot-free. I combine this with a Tangle Teezer brush (I love the colour of this one). It’s so gentle on my hair.
Next though is not a priority when I care for my blonde hair, it’s vital for adding volume into my do. I swear by Kristin Ess Instant Lift Volumizing Mousse. As a 90’s kid plagued by bad mousse products, I usually avoid them like the plague. However, this product is so different. Firstly, you don’t get that usual crunchy hair, even if you use too much. It smells amazing (like all Kristin Ess products) and is so easy to use. You get instant results, once I finished drying my hair, I have instant volume and I’m ready to go.
These are pretty much my go-to products for when I care for my blonde hair. I’m so happy with the colour and I know this is a look that I’m going to keep for a long time. How do you care for your blonde hair?
