Making Changes to the Blog & Blog Survey Results

champagne lifestyle making changes to the blog

I’ve been so reflective about the blog these past couples of months (and also working on a secret project…). And after the success of my first blog survey, I feel like I’m heading in the right direction. Thank you so much to everyone who took part, I honestly wasn’t expecting to see that many people take the time to fill it out. It’s given me so much insight into what you lovely readers like about my blog. And, what more you want to read on this platform.

After nearly five years of writing for this blog, I thought I had it all sussed out. And whilst I was on point for most things (thank you Google Analytics), there were some curve balls that I wasn’t expecting. It’s made me look at everything in a whole new light. It’s also helped me to finally take the plunge on doing some major changes.

Making Changes to the Blog

Some have already happened, such as finally landing on a good look for my Instagram feed. Others are going to take that little bit longer but will be 100% worth the wait. So after gathering all the data, analysing it (there was a spreadsheet or two involved), here are some of the changes that I’m making to the blog…

Promote Posts on Instagram More

I will, of course, will not be neglecting my other social channels. But an overwhelming number of you find out about a new post through Instagram, so that’s got to be the number one priority for pushing content. As well as a post on my feed, I’ll be using Instagram Stories more and linking to the post in the URL in the description so it’s easier for you to jump straight onto the page.

Posting More Often on the Blog

This will be a biggie for me. I originally jumped down to three a week to help take the pressure off of blogging Monday- Friday. It has helped but it’s also quite limiting, considering there’s only chance to do 12 posts a month. This issue has become more prominent with Christmas and festive content, as I take a week off at the end of December. So thankfully, the majority of you were on the same page as me and wanting to see four posts a week. I will definitely be doing this throughout December. Fingers crossed that I will be able to keep it up for 2019.

Showing More of Leeds

The survey showed you guys love my interior, lifestyle and travel posts and these are the categories you want to see more of. While I personally want to do more travelling next year (and will, of course, document it), the other two I’m constantly working on. When looking at the general comments people had left on the survey, someone requested that they wanted to see more of Leeds and not many bloggers promote this area of the UK enough.

It’s true, I know I shied away from pushing Leeds for a while because it brought in more opportunities to be vague about my location. But I love my new home city, it has so much to offer and I want to show it off more. So I will be pushing the Leeds content more, pushing the local coffee shops and restaurants. Showing off great towns and cities you have to visit on the weekend. If there’s anywhere, in particular, you’d like me to review then let me know in the comments below and I’ll get on with planning a visit.

More How-To/ Advice Posts

It’s quite an honour that you lovely lot would want to take advice from me. But the survey did show that you wanted to see more advice/ how-to posts on the blog. So of course, I’m more than happy to do these. These are sometimes hard to come by, as I normally write them if it’s a problem I’ve recently solved or someone has requested it. So please, keep requesting them, in comments or Instagram if there’s any topics, in particular,r you’d like me to write about. There are a few how-to posts coming up in the next few weeks, mainly, very festive ones…

What Changes Would You like Me to Make to the Blog?

The survey is still available for you to fill out, so if you do have a spare five minutes, please do give it a go. Or, simply leave me a comment below or on Instagram and Twitter and I’ll see what I can do for you.
