Plans for the New House | Kitchen
Another day, another room makeover. We’ve just finished with our living room makeover and whilst I tried to convince my husband that we would take a break from the home decor stuff… even he knew I was lying. I just don’t like sitting still. So whilst we had finished working on the living room, we turned to the second most used space in the house. It was time for a kitchen makeover and I was brimming with ideas…
The current decor…
Our kitchen is in need of a desperate makeover. Three words: vinyl flooring and pine. Two things that I hate. I mean, why? Why people use pine in a kitchen? It’s just… pine! Light pine, maybe. But this orangey stuff is just not good. The vinyl flooring hasn’t been installed properly and is also, very orange. The layout is also a little weird, the oven is in the middle of the island. Personally, if I owned this house I would have moved the oven to where the chimney breast is. If I actually own this house, I would rip the entire kitchen out and start again.
The kitchen also desperately needs organising. Because everything was just dumped when we moved, it’s not layout in the way that we would like it. There’s also a lack of counter space. There’s an empty space above our freezer that could be used to put stuff on.
Yup, this house is in desperate need of a kitchen makeover.
THE KITCHEN MAKEOVER PLANS.
Everything is just looking a little chipped and bare. This kitchen is why I fell in love with this house. It just needs some TLC and it will look amazing. Now, as this is a rental home, there are only a few things that I can do to the room. Whilst I would love to rip the countertop off, that’s just not going to happen. However, if Pinterest is full of anything, it’s rental hacks! So, I’m looking at investing in some marble contact paper to give them a new lease of life. I’ve seen some amazing options on Amazon, now I’ve just got to narrow down the choice.
I also want to paint the pine white, something I’m confident my landlord will let us do. The walls could also do with a quick lick of paint, something we have plenty of. To accessorise this, I want to invest in some brass hardware to give it a glam touch. Of course, I look to the company I work for this, I’m obsessed with these knobs. Though, I have a feeling this kitchen is going to have some Scandi/ California vibes to it, so should I go for these gorgeous leather pulls instead? I also want to build a side over the top of the freezer, just for extra countertop space. I think just some wood from B&Q stained dark brown or maybe light. I’ve not quite decided yet.
Once that is done, it’s time for the finer details. I’ve had most of our kitchen bits since we moved to Leeds five years ago, now it’s time for new bits and bobs. I want to invest in a few new things, starting with some gorgeous bits from Made.com. They have some gorgeous home accessories that I cannot wait to get my hands on!
