My New Organisational Dream!
Ever since we made over our rental bathroom, I’ve fallen in love with our new bathroom cabinet. This cabinet has provided us with so much storage that I’ve never had in a rental home. All my beauty products are hidden nicely and neatly behind the mirrored doors. No mess, no fuss. At the same time, rather than having all our products stuffed onto one shelf as we had previously, there are three shelves to help me section our products. One shelf for Lee (the tallest) and two for me. Trust me, I need all the space!
I’ve been doing so many time lapses on Instagram (I find them very calming to do and to watch). And whilst I’ve been doing my skincare ones, you lovely lot have asked for a breakdown of my skincare routine. As someone with very dry skin, I’ve always been more invested in skincare rather than makeup. Anything to ensure that my skin stayed smooth, it went onto my face. It’s taken time, but as I’m finally heading into my 30th year, I have a plan in place.
My skincare is broken into two routines; morning and evening. Both are very much details and intricated. However, for both routines, you’ll notice that there are three brands that I’m loyal to. The Ordinary, Kiehls and Pixi. I’m a creature of habit, so once I find something that works for me, I’ll lock it in my bathroom cabinet and it’s staying put.
MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE.
Kiehls was my first love and it all started with my moisturiser. I’ve gone through so many different moisturisers, and once I discovered Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser, I’ve not used another moisturiser since. It’s so light but it packs a punch. Your skin feels so soft and smooth. It’s worth the investment! Prior to using this those, there’s a whole routine that goes on. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I like to use a facial scrub. The L’Oreal Paris Smooth Sugars Wake-Up Scrub is my go-to. I love coffee and this scrub uses coffee grain that wakes your face up, whilst also getting rid of that dead skin.
Cleansing wise, I’m obsessed with Pixi’s Rose Cream Cleanser. When I first got it, I was a little worried when it came out of the tube like a clay-like texture. However, it quickly turns into a cream and is amazing for plumping and making your skin feel so soft and rejuvinated. After cleansing, comes the Toner. You cannot go wrong with the Pixi Rose Tonic.
ALL THE SERUMS…
After all this, it’s time to add the oils. I like to mix it up on the weekend, but during the week, I stick two. First is Pixi Vitamin C Tri-Phase Beauty Oil. I highly recommend getting a vitamin C into your skincare routine. You face feels so nice after using it and after a couple of days, you’ll notice the glow that your skin suddenly has. To top it all off, I have to use hyaluronic acid. My ride or die is The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B%. I notice such a difference if I forget to use this. My skin doesn’t feel as subtle and my makeup will not sit properly.
Finally, it’s time for the eye cream. I’ve got to that age where the lines are showing. And whilst I don’t want to get rid of my laughter lines too much (they show how much fun I’ve had) I do need to control the bags under my eyes that have come from nowhere. I’ve addicted to the Pixi Collagen Eye Serum. My eyes feel instantly awake and I see such a difference to the texture of my skin. You don’t even need that much, a little goes a long way.

EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE.
Though I’m not actually wearing that much makeup these days, I still have to go through evening skincare. I always start with Garnier Micellar Water to get rid of my makeup and the dirt from the day. After this, you have to double cleanse. It’s a must! I love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. This is the final lift to get everything off my face. Within the evening, I like to pack on all the oils, including cleansing. With dry skin, I love to take the opportunity in the evening to get all the oils onto my skin so while I sleep they can absorb.
Before all that though, once a week I like to do a peeling mask. I’ve started using this Ecooking Peeling Mask with Lactic Acid (10 mins at a time) to lift everything off my face. A word of warning, do NOT do a peeling mask with Lactic Acid at any time of the day unless it’s at night! Your skin will go red (very red) and it will be terrifying. It will not go down until the next morning. Do it in the evening. After all, as Caroline Hirons has recently said, no one is going to be seeing you anytime soon, so now is the best time to start with a peeling mask.
After the mask, I like to go in with The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. I’m starting off slow with the retinol, but I think I’m ready to go to the next one up. If you are going to do a Lactic Acid peeling mask, leave this step. Your skin has gone through enough.
And that is it. Sometimes I might do an overnight hydration mask. But generally, I like to leave the oils to do their thing and wake up with super soft skin. Fully ready to take on the day.
