This is my favourite time of the year. Getting cosy, lighting all the candles and getting snugly on the sofa with a Netflix binge of Gilmore Girls. And of course, with this season, I’m in full on decorating mode, filling my home with all the cosy Autumn decor. I’ve always admired the way the American’s Decorate their home and front doors during Autumn (or should I say Fall). And unlike Black Friday, I actually like this tradition that has slowly made it’s way over to this side of the pond.
Of course, I’m taking it slow, building it up slowly. The dream is to have seasonable boxes that I rotate throughout the year. Soon, I’ll have an entire storage box filled with my cosy Autumn decor, sitting pretty next to my Christmas decor box. Here are the few bits that I have now to keep my home looking cosy this Autumn…
Cosy Autumn Decor
Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins. I’m all about pumpkins this time of year. I recently went to a pumpkin patch to collect my pumpkins and got an array of sizes for our house. I’ve got most of them at our back door next to our potted plants. Inside, I’ve dotted some medium sized ones around the fireplace and some mini ones on the mantle and the radiator cover. The mini ones are a steal right now from Aldi- literally, they are 39p! Pumpkins aren’t just limited to the actual squash. The pumpkin dish was a gem of a find from one of my favourite home stores, Homesense. This will be coming out year after year and placed on my coffee table for all to enjoy.
Conkers & pinecones. I’ve had the pinecones for a while and they are perfect for adding that cosy Autumn vibe to a home. Confession time, I picked mine up from Etsy. It was the cause of the 2016 couple’s argument for the Griffins. And whilst I would love to say I’ve learnt my lesson, I’ve not. Yes, I got the conkers from the website also. Now, you can follow me and get yours online also. Or you can be sensible and simply go to your local park and pick some up. One thing I think we can agree on, is they are perfect for stacking in vases or scattering in a dish. Both are ideal cosy Autumn decor for your home.
Faux fur & cosy blankets. All the throws come out as soon as there’s a chill in the air. I have loads of baskets dotted in each room that are filled to the brim. Most of my throws are from Homesense. However, there are some gems out there right now, so you won’t be disappointed in getting one for your home.
Halloween bunting. I’m not one for the scary Halloween decor. Maybe one day when we have kids that will enjoy all of that. Personally, I like simple cosy Autumn decor. However, I do like Halloween and found the perfect bunting to incorporate the celebrations, without going full horror. This gorgeous bunting comes in both kraft and black and is something that I will continue to whip out every single year.
Autumn florals & foliage. Everyone knows my love for fresh flowers in my home. Bloom & Wild do some great bouquets, along with my favourites Marks & Spencer. I also love foliage like Pussy Willow (see the picture above). It ties in with the Autumnal colours and they last a really long time. Perfect for savvy savers who still want to decorate their home.
Cosy scents. We can’t talk home cosy Autumn decor without talking candles. The White Company’s Autumn candle is my absolute favourite one. I could easily burn this until the end of the year. Aldi is also doing well for Autumn scents (blackberry & bay is absolutely gorgeous!) Burn them for a couple of hours in the evening and your home will be filled with lovely scents that will help you to relax and unwind.
