fresher, natural and better tasting flavours; just in time for the summer months. , one of my favourite bars here in Leeds City Centre, has recently launch it’s new cocktail menu. Moving away from traditional purees to create
This bar has never been traditional and the bar gurus sourced a variety of weird and wonderful ingredients such as micro lemon balm and micro Thai basil to name a few.
The quirky new concoctions include Kiwi and Sage Martini (which is delicious and you must order), Thai Chilli Crush (less scary to drink than it sounds) and oh course The Botanist Cocktail, which beat off stiff competition at this years.
During the event we were taught how to free pour, which is where a bartender pours without the shot measure cups. Lets, just say I am not going to be working the bar anytime soon- I was not that good at it!
We then had a go at making a plum and Thai basil mojito: A very modern twist on the golden oldie. Plum, Thai basil, cranberry, fresh lime juice with Bacardi Carta Oro and Cherry Marnier. After we tested our creations, it was time for a challenge…
From this riddle, we were to figure out the ingredients and create the cocktail, whilst our bartender was blindfolded. Our team’s cocktail was the closest to the recipe Thai Chilli Crush: fresh red chilli, micro Thai basil, apple and lemon juice with Tanqueray gin and green apple liqueur. This cocktail is delicious, fresh and fruity with a little spice.
Head on down to the bar as soon as you can, I have a feeling these creations are going to be very popular this summer.
